About DAMA-NCRWelcome from the President of DAMA-NCR
Who is DAMA-NCR?It stands for Data Management Association - National Capitol Region. Offices are in Reston, Virginia. Program meetings are hosted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a convenient site next to Union Station with excellent meeting facilities. DAMA NCR is the chapter of DAMA International (www.dama.org) that covers the Washington, DC area. DAMA International is a not-for-profit, vendor-independent association of technical and business professionals dedicated to advancing the concepts and practices of information resource management (IRM) and data resource management (DRM). DAMA International's primary purpose is to promote the understanding, development and practice of managing information and data as a key enterprise asset. As a chapter of DAMA International, DAMA NCR shares its mission and objectives and operates under our chapter Bylaws. DAMA NCR is a professional organization, staffed by volunteers, and dedicated to providing learning opportunities for all aspects of data management, including such topics as
Regular program meetings are free to members (fee for non-members, payable at door, check the Schedule of Planned Events page for the fee of each event) and are scheduled five times a year, from September through May. A variety of other activities are scheduled throughout the year. Volunteers are encouraged to participate (see work ideas for volunteers).
